Join us in congratulating our 2022 Wave of Light Award Winners!

Updated: Nov 3, 2022

Three Little Bird's nest has grown tremendously over the last year and we wanted to acknowledge many individuals that have made a tremendous impact on expanding the organization's mission, supporting other families on similar journeys and helping #shatterthestigma of pregnancy and infant loss!

Please join us in congratulating...

HEALTHCARE HERO OF THE YEAR - Victoria Asturrizaga, MSN, CNM, Jefferson Health Midwife

(Pictured left to right, Vicki Asturrizaga, Jefferson Health Midwife and Dejarae Lindsey, Baby C's mom)

Vicki supported a family in our nest and her compassion, experience and expertise made all the difference when helping mom and dad bond. She was nominated for this award. Additionally, Vicki was one of six other Jefferson Health Clinicians who completed our Perinatal Bereavement Training Program for Medical Professionals. We learned so much from her during our training program from her experiences! Congratulations Vicki!

HEALTHCARE HERO OF THE YEAR - Dawn Moore, Inspira Health Labor & Delivery Nurse - Mullica Hill

(Pictured left to right, Dawn Moore, Inspira - Mullica Hill and Desiree Miller, Three Little Birds Co-Founder)

In addition to completing our Perinatal Bereavement Training Course, Three Little Birds has worked with Dawn bedside to support families in opening up to memory making and bonding. Her expertise comes from both personal and professional experience. In addition to presenting her with this award, we were honored to memorialize her daughter, Isabella, during our Wave of Light ceremony.

HEALTHCARE HERO OF THE YEAR - Kaitlyn Torres-Maina, Inspira Health Labor & Delivery Nurse - Vineland

Not pictured. Kaitlyn was unable to join us at our event. She completed our Perinatal Bereavement Training Course along with Dawn this summer and we have worked alongside her supporting patients at Inspira Vineland. We love working with you!

LEGACY EVENT OF THE YEAR - Ryan and Chelsea Walsh, Spencer's Cornhole Tournament, in memory of Spencer Jean Walsh

Not pictured. The Walsh's were unable to join us at our event. Spencer’s parents hosted a large cornhole tournament to celebrate their daughter’s first heavenly birthday and raise funds and awareness to support other families in our nest through the journey of pregnancy and infant loss. This event raised more than $8,000 in her memory to support Three Little Bird's mission!

LEGACY PROJECT OF THE YEAR - Cade's Creations/Cruising for Cade, in memory of Cade James Miller

(Pictured left to right, Janelle & Cody Miller)

Cade’s mom uses her talent and love for her Cricut machine to create customized vinyl decals for loss families to proudly sport on their cars as a reminder that our baby’s love goes with us wherever we go! This product generates funds for Three Little Birds thru our Etsy story and offers validation for families in shattering the stigma of pregnancy and infant loss. The Miller family hosted a motorcycle cruise fundraiser that raised more than $7,000 to benefit Three Little Birds!

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - Brooke Koines, in memory of Xander Abraham Koines

(Pictured left to right, Desiree Miller, Three Little Birds Co-Founder and Brooke Koines)

Xander’s mom is a craft and plant enthusiast and she saw how the two go hand in hand while healing from infant loss and wants to spread her son’s love and memory with all things plant related. She currently creates items for our Etsy store, hosts fundraisers and wants to focus her efforts in finding support for young siblings experiencing perinatal loss as well as facilitating our monthly Craft & Heal Support Events. She recently completed our Perinatal Bereavement Training Program for Advocates and is never afraid to get her hands dirty in helping out in all tasks big or small! Thank you for all your hardwork and time this past year!

BEREAVEMENT DOULA OF THE YEAR - Ashly Hannah, in memory of Aubree Ann Tucker

(Pictured left to right, Ashly Hannah, Bereavement Doula and Desiree Miller, Three Little Birds Co-Founder)

Ashly attended our support groups and events for a while before taking a leap into advocacy through our Perinatal Bereavement Training Program. She has had the opportunity to support two families in a very short time bedside with memory making, bonding and resources. To celebrate Ashly and Aubree, Three Little Birds was happy to present Ashly with a new Canon Rebel DSLR Camera so she can continue her advocacy in healing the hearts of others, as well as her own.

Additionally, Ashly is launching her legacy project, Aubree's Adventures with the intention of creating a space for perinatal loss parents to socialize after the loss of a pregnancy and baby while trying to navigate a new normal. (Join us on November 11th at the Healing Nest for the kick-off event. Attendees will create a special memorial dinner plate for their baby for the holiday season).

GIVEAWAY SPONSOR OF THE YEAR - Jenn Marianni and Marisa Marchese, in memory of Izzy Marianni-Marchese
